Planning weekend in Bad Hofgastein

38°C and more? No promblem for the austrian scouts! Despite of the burning heat in Salzburg, 20 scouts spent their weekend in Bad Hofgastein for planning. The planning team consisted of members of the camp-chiefs, the sub-camp-managers, program-managers and the communication team. The aim of the 27th and 28th of July was the planning of the “mutual activities of all age divisions Day” and the “Visitor’s Day”.

First the team made a short visit on the camp side, so that everybody had an imagination of it. Afterwards they started to work and had to realize quickly that the logistic was not that easy as thought. After plenty hours of work it was done: the “mutual activities of all age divisions Day” was completely planed!!

The planning session on Sunday was started with the answering of some general questions. Afterwards the planning for the “Visitor’s Day” started.  It is not completely finished yet because of a lack of time but there are many great ideas and a extra planning day will follow.

All together, it was a very productive weekend!!

Visiting the campsite

On 26 May it finally happened: “1 official Wurzl-campsite-viewing “of the sub-camp-, program-managers and members of the communications team! After the organization management and the camp chiefs have already done much preliminary work and also on 24 may still an information meeting for residents of the part of Bad Gastein where the camp actually takes place. Now finally the “masses” were let loose on the camp. Nearly twenty scouts rode together in the big bus to Bad Hofgastein, where in addition to host, campsite-owner and “Schmaranz-Bauer” Mark Viehauser also the mayor of Bad Hofgastein, Fritz Zettenig, were awaiting the scouts. The Mayor expressed in just a few words, that he is already looking forward to the camp and the associated opportunities for the region before everybody had a closer look on the campsite. After the tour (up to Gastein Ache) the master of the house – with beer brewed by himself – answered all questions that have been incurred to date. Finally the “trippers” have a look at the local pond and inspected the – under reconstruction outstanding – home of the Gastein scouts.
